VI International Open Vila del Vendrell memorial Josep Maria Pellicer - Base Rules - Catalan Circuit

Day and Time: Sunday, July 12th 2026. Confirmation and payments at 9:00 a.m. Kick- off at 9.30 a.m.

Place:

1. C/ Sant Jordi nº 7, La Lira Vendrellenca. 43700 El Vendrell. All facilities are adapted for disabled people and equipped with air conditioning.

1. Rounds: 9 rounds according to the Swiss System. The games will be played with Swiss Manager, no claims allowed, except if the referee agrees. Sunday morning: 5 rounds (starting at 9.30 a.m.); Sunday afternoon: 4 remaining rounds (starting at 16:00h p.m.)

1. Game mode: 15 minutes + 5 seconds per move.

1. Groups and Elo: One group. Tournament valid for Rapid FIDE Elo and Rapid Catalan Elo.

1. Ranking: First by Rapid FIDE Elo, second by Normal FIDE Elo, and then by Rapid Catalan Elo.

1. Awards ceremony: The awards ceremony will take place the same evening, approximately at 19:45 p.m. In order to receive the prize, the awarded person must be present and in possession of his/her ID, NIE or passport. A delegated person can also receive the award if he/she has an authorization signed by the awarded person and a photocopy of his/her ID DNI, NIE or passport. Otherwise, it will be understood that the prize winner declines the award.

1. Registration: Open until July 10th at 21.00 p.m. Candidates may register by WhatsAPP (679870964) or by e-mail at: escacsliravendrellenca@gmail.com (name, club, Elo and date of birth must be indicated).

In case of limited capacity due to the current health situation the priority of the players will follow the order of registration. When the registration is made, the organizer will provide a number which will be the priority number in case of room's restrictions.

In addition, in case 5 or more players from the same club register for the tournament (regardless of whether they are from the General, sub16, local or disabled players), the players from the General section of that club will enjoy a 5€ discount on registration price.

Also, the participants of the 26th International Open of Torredembarra (which is held the previous week) will have a 5€ discount as well.

Remark: Only two discounts per person shall be applied

Disabled people must be recognized by the FcdE.

Payments can be made by transfer to the following bank account: ES5401822968550208511897, it is necessary to indicate the player's name in the concept.

The payment can be made the day of the tournament in cash.

The organization can invite IM's GM's and players rated above 2350 FIDE.

Free registration for all 2025 Catalan champions (absolute and age-ranged, male and female).

1. Eliminated players: Players who are absent during the first round will be eliminated. Any unjustified absence at any round will also lead to disqualification.

1. Waiting time: The time to show at the table will end with the flag drop.

1. Mobile Phones: Mobile phones or any other communication devices are not allowed neither in the playing room nor in other designated areas, except with the referees' permission. Any sound from a mobile phone will lead to the disqualification of the player.

1. Committee: The will not be an Appeals Committee, in order to avoid disrupting the

tournament functions. The referees' decisions will be final. However, an official complaint form will be available in the playing room, allowing participants to address a written complaint to the Catalan Chess Federation (Federació Catalana d'Escacs).

1. Tie-break: Tie-breaking in the final ranking will be resolved using the following method:

The cash prizes, general classification and range-elo trophies will not be cumulative. Nevertheless, if a player is rewarded with a cash prize, it can also be rewarded with an age-range trophy; in case of absence of Rapid FIDE Elo, the FIDE Elo will be applied, or the Rapid Catalan Elo, if necessary.

Any other point or discrepancy will be solved according to the rules of the Circuit Català, the FIDE rules and those of the Federació Catalana d'Escacs. For more information, please consult:

1. Restriction in the playing room: Smoking is forbidden. According to the general rules applicable to competitions, it is forbidden for players and viewers to have their mobile phones on (or any other electronic communication device) while any game is being played. To avoid incidents, it is also forbidden to have food and beverages at the tables. The non-respect of these rules may lead the player to lose the game or even be disqualified from the tournament, without right to any compensation.

1. Claim forms: Official claim forms will be available at the tournament.

1. Participation Rules: The participation in this tournament is subject to the acceptance of these base rules, whose interpretation corresponds to the director of the tournament. Anything not provided for in these rules will be solved by applying, by the order mentioned, the rules of the FCDE, the FIDE or the FEDA.
